Tamara Rafkin is a photographer and artist who specializes in environmental portraiture and capturing the energy of artistic creation. 

During her editorial and portrait sessions, she puts a subject at ease to elicit their different sides, discovering more than projected personas in the process. She also works with clients on events, and special assignments.

Tamara’s editorial and portrait images have been published in Time, VIBE, and Spin in the US and The Face in the U,K,, The Bulletin, De Standaard, and VRT’s ( The Flemish Radio and Television Networks) feeds in Belgium. Her portraits of writer Jennifer Egan, The Swan’s Michael Gira, and Jermaine Dupri have appeared in articles, on book jackets and albums, while she has contributed to various music labels in the US and abroad.

Her live performances photography includes notable musicians as Bobby McFerrin, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, and Diana Krall. For three decades, Tamara has created, produced, and managed commercial and editorial content for the entertainment industry—music, theater, fashion and design, and fine art—in Atlanta, San Francisco, New York City, and Brussels, Belgium.
